The ' biferno is an Italian wine of the Molise area equipped with a name DOC. since April 29th, 1983. Only to DOC. the white wines collected inside the surface of production defined by the decree are entitled. The authorized vineyards are located in Province of Campobasso in the communes Campobasso, Campomarino, Colletorto, Mirabello Sannitico, Montenero di Bisaccia, Portocannone, Termoli, Rotello, San Giacomo degli Schiavoni and Tufara. The vineyards are located on slopes on an altitude of 550 - 600 Mr.

Under name, the following wines are authorized:

• Biferno bianco, a white wine
• Biferno rosso, a red wine
• Biferno rosso riserva, a red wine of quality superior
• Biferno rosato, a rosy wine
