Berrwiller is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.

Its inhabitants is called the Berrwillerois and Berrwilleroises .

Geography

Berrwiller is located at the foot of the Hartmannswillerkopf (" Old Armand")and is composed of the " parts; Owerdorf" , " Unterdorf" , " Leimgrüab" , " Bertschwiller" and " Weckenthal" .

In the south-east of the village the Trunk road is 83 and in western north the wine trail.

History

• 796 : First mention of Berrwiller in the files of Murbach, then under the name of Baronewillare .

• 1441 : The document liber marcarum teaches us that there is in Berrwiller a Curé and a Vicaire and that the church is dedicated to Sainte Brigide of Ireland
• 1697: The armorial bearings of Berrwiller (3 mountains of Sinople surmounted by a S-shaped hook) appear for the first time in the armorial of the General information of Alsace .
• 1766 : Construction of the current church to replace the old church out of wooden.
• 1853 : Construction of the current cemetery.
• 1885 : Construction of the communal Laundrette; there remains nothing any more but the basin.
• 1914 : Evacuation of the village in December because located on the line of the Face. Return of the population in 1918 in a partly destroyed village.
• 1945 : Release of the village on February 4th.
• 1953 : Installation of mains drainage and the running water
• 1960: Construction of shaft Berrwiller the mine of the MDPA
• June 30th 2007: A car driven by a motorist voluntarily sinks in the public of a village f4ete on the communal stage, making 1 died and 17 wounded, including two in a critical condition.
