Bernard Annen Auwen Dowiyogo (born on February 14th, 1946 with Ubenide - died on March 9th, 2003 with Washington DC) was a politician and president of the République of Nauru.

Biography

Bernard Dowiyogo is born on February 14th, 1946 in Ubenide on the island from Nauru.

He is elected with the Parlement of Nauru for the first time in 1973. He becomes president of the Republic for the first time from December 22nd, 1976 to April 19th, 1978 after having driven out capacity Hammer DeRoburt.

December 12th, 1989, it starts a six years mandate which is completed on November 22nd, 1995 when it loses the elections vis-a-vis Lagumot Harris, the reserves of Phosphate start to become exhausted. Phosphate exports decrease and the costs of exploitation increase (phosphate becoming increasingly difficult to extract). This, combined to a rise of the course of the American dollar returned the imports of Fioul and of more expensive machines, the commercial Balance of Nauru started to become overdrawn.

Beginning 2001, an international accounting scandal bursts with the discovery of a network of money laundering of the Russian Mafia and of Cartel S of the South American Drogue .
