Bernard Augustin Cardenau , born in 1766 of a family distinguished in the bar, general French.

It entered to the service in 1791. Appointed lieutenant in the Regiment of Angoumois which formed the 148e half-brigade, it was employed with the Armée with Pyrenees-Western the under the orders of the captain Latour of Auvergne, and was detached with the outposts of Solimont. It contributed to the defense of this station.

Noticed by the general-in-chief Muller, it was charged by him with directing the column which had, on this point, to form the attack of the army Spanish E. It obtained a complete success, and the catch of famous fear Col of Baya and of Béra opened the entry of the Spanish territory to the French Armies. It was named, in reward of its control, adjudant-general. It obtained then the rank of colonel the 25 meadow year III, and it was in this quality that it fought with Marengo with the tète 101e regiment of line; it supported several loads of cavalry there and could not be started. It had in this business three horses killed under him.

After having made the war of Italy until the peace of Austerlitz, it belonged to the victorious army which entered the Royaume of Naples, took share with the Siège of Gaeta, and was named Brigadier general on the proposal of Masséna on March 1st 1807. It moreover was created Baron of the Empire.

Louis XVIII named later it Chevalier of Saint-Louis.

During the Hundred Days, it ordered a brigade of infantry to the Blocus of Strasbourg.

Appointed Moors in 1818, it sat at the center left. He was re-elected in June 1830: he was already put at the retirement. In 1831, it gave up the political matters and was withdrawn in a commune of the department of the Moors. The Cardenau general died in Thil, close to Dax (Moors), the January 21st 1841.
