The Berliner Dom is the historical Cathédrale of Berlin located on the island at the Museums.
The emperor Guillaume II wanted for the church Lutheran a cathedral worthy of the size of the imperial capital. He then made it build on the place of an old cathedral of the 18th century. The architect Julius Raschdorff was the project superintendent. The cathedral is long of 114 meters, broad of 73 meters and high of 85 meters. Its construction was spread out between 1894 and 1905. The building is of style of the high Italian rebirth.
The central body is capped with an imposing cupola, devoted to the sermon. The Southern wing comprises the vault of the Baptisms and the Marriages, while the Northern wing shelters the funerary vault. The crypt joins together close to 95 sarcophagi, where the members of the dynasty of the Hohenzollern rest. Berliner Dom shelters two Orgue S, whose of 4 is an imposing instrument keyboards and 113 plays, built by the Sauer house in 1904.
