Berghain

Berghain is a techno famous club with Berlin, qualified “probably best night club of the world” by Philip Sherburne.

Description

The club is in the alternate district of Friedrichshain, near to Ostbahnhof and is located in gigantic an old closed powerplant dating from the years 1950 of the time of GDR. True iron and concrete cathedral, the building is characterized by its enormous dimensions and in particular its high ceilings of more than 18 meters, Berghain which can accommodate to 1500 people. Only half of the building is currently used. The club is divided into 3 stages, bottom being reserved with the reception, cases and cloakrooms, the first level constituting the club Berghain itself, and the last level accommodating PanoramaBar. On a purely anecdotic basis one finds no mirror in all the building.

Berghain very quickly gained a sulfurous from the contents of its nights with tendency hedonist and declining reputation, the club cash 2 Darkroom and its customers being regarded as enough libertine. The club has also the reputation to have the best sound of the world, from the technology of avant-garde used but also thanks to best DJ of the scene Techno/world Electro which occurs there each weekend.

In the beginning, the public of Berghain was mainly Homosexuel, but since the opening of the club in December 2004, it diversified more and more, returning the profile of the very cosmopolitan and international club. It is formally interdict to take photographs in the club under penalty of being left by the personnel at once. Berghain very quickly reached a quasi mythological reputation because of its very strict selection at the entry, the owners of the club working enormously to keep the undesirable ones outside. The queue is consequently long at any hour of the night… and the day, the club closing its doors only very late Sunday evening.

History

Berghain is the reincarnation of the mythical gay club Ostgut which had to close its doors in January 2003. Ostgut had established Berlin with the row of world capital of the techno as well as the Tresor, the Kitkatclub or E-werk.
