Berat is a city located at the center-south of the Albania of a population of 45.500 inhabitants (is. 2003). She is the capital of the district of Berat and large the prefecture of Berat.

The city is known to be one of oldest of Albania which exists since at least VIe front century J. - C., like fortress of the Dasaretes tribes of Illyrie between the old borders of Illyrie and Épire.
