Belkacem Ihidjaten

Belkacem Ihidjaten is a Musicien, a Poète and a writer Amazigh (Berber) of Kabylie, in Algeria.

Biography

Ouidja Boussad, from its true name was born the July 11th 1956 with Guendoul in the surroundings from Tizi Ouzou.

It loses his father whereas it has only one forty days. It is registered at the school of the village of Imzizou.

Like all the small Berber ones of its age, it is him which keeps the pets of the family. Thanks to other shepherds, he discovers the poetic inheritance kabyle of which the legendary figure of If Mhend or Mhend.

He joined then the college of Mekla where he animates, with his Guitare, the musical activities of the establishment.

Then, the Belkacem young person joined the technical school of Dellys. Equipped with a true room of music, it touches there with all the musical instruments: mandoline, banjo, electric guitar, etc It is at this same time - 1974,1976 - which it makes its first compositions poetic and musical.

But Algeria is destabilized because of the terrorism which prevails in the country. Two of its friendly close relations will be among the victims. Itself receives death threats. It decides to be exiled. In 2000, the opportunity to settle with the Canada arises. It is established in Quebec, province French-speaking. It is there that its poetic talent is expressed. It publishes in account of authors, successively, several collections in its native tongue, the tamazight.
