Beaumont-Village is a common French, located in the department of Indre-et-Loire and the area Center.

Its inhabitants is called Beaumontois, Beaumontoises.

Geography

History

Until 1700, Beaumont and Montrésor made only one parish. Before its Montrésor independence was called Beaumont-city and it is following this scission that Beaumont became Beaumont-Village.

Places and monuments

In the wood of Beaumont one can see the Notre-Dame vault of the Oak. A vault was built in 1769, in the wood of Beaumont, to shelter a statue of the Virgin Mary who was before in a niche on a stone pillar. It became an annual place of pilgrimage. For lack of maintenance, it fell in ruin and a new vault was set up in 1897. Nowadays, the pilgrimage takes place 2nd Sunday of September.

In the borough, a modern church was built as from 1959, with a blue granite furnace bridge of Labrador, a contemporary virgin of Ricwal: Notre Dame of the Road as well as mural frescos carried out by Miss Mesnet (1992). The murals of XIIIe and XIVe centuries coming from the old church destroyed into 1949 reinstated the church.
