Beaufort is a common French, located in the department of the Northern and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
Its inhabitants is called Beaufortois, Beaufortoises.
Beaufort, located between Maubeuge and Avesnes, fact part of the natural regional park of the avesnois. Its green landscape is one of mixture of scrap-metal, fields and forest. A course of small excursion (3 or 7km) was created recently to admire the lanes of the village and the surrounding countryside.
Beaufort draws its name from the tower built in 1173 by the count de Hainaut to defend his grounds of the incursions of the lord of Avesnes. Passed to the châtellenie of Beaumont in 1272, the ground was brought in dowry to the lord of Avesnes to 14th.
More recently, the street of the hospital recalls that one of the imposing farms took the function of hospital of countryside during the 1st world war, time when Beaufort was in German territory.
