Baziège
Baziège is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.
Its inhabitants is called Baziégeois.

History
The history of Baziège starts with prehistory.Prehistory
The site of the town of Baziège was already attended with the Préhistoire. An axe of the Neolithic was found there and is exposed today to the Muséum of natural history of Toulouse.
Antiquity
With the Roman epoch the city already exists and is known under the name of Badera (the origin of this name comes from a ford which was used to cross the plain Marécage uses of the Hers). One finds with the accesses of the town of old Roman bridges. Vestiges of Gallo-Roman villas were also exhumed.
the Middle Ages
The village, located in the Lauragais, high-place of the Catharisme, includes/understands believers in his center and even of the houses the perfect ones and the perfect ones. Its position being then crossroads on the track of the crusaders, Baziège suffers from the passage of the armies.- In 1439, the village was plundered by Rodrigue de Villandrando.

Empire
In 1790, Baziège becomes place chief of canton. In the night from August 5th to August 6th 1799, the royalists try to capture the city. Some rare republicans organize defense. The troop legalist of Villefranche assists from the baziégeois. But the inhabitants being rather pro-royalist, they will not be entitled even to the lodging and cover or even to water.
Modern times
Towards 1850, one speaks more and more about the construction of the railway line Bordeaux-Sète. It will pass by Baziège and a renewal of economic activity will give him. In 1870, the market with the grains and destroyed because decayed. It will be rebuilt in 1881. It is this year also that the commune obtains an elementary school. In 1863, Baziège which had the fifth of the inhabitants of the canton paid one the third of the taxes of the same canton, which shows well its economic power compared to the other towns of this one.
