The battles of Vézeronce took place the June 25th 524 close to Vézeronce in the Isere.

It is held during the second forwarding of the war that the kings Francs Clodomir, Childebert, Clotaire and Thierry had engaged against the king burgonde Sigismond, which had just been killed, with its two sons, on the order of Clodomir.

This same Clodomir wants to then seize with his/her brothers what there remains kingdom burgonde and goes back to shift as of spring 524 with its troops. It advances on Lyon, seizes some without fighting and seeks to contact the enemy army under the orders of Godomar III, brother of Sigismond, which is folded up towards the Alps. It finds it around the current village of Vézéronce, vast zone of plain.

At the time of the battle, the franques troops of the king Clodomir take the advantage quickly and push back the Burgondes troops. But believer to join a party of frank riders, Clodomir throws himself in the middle of unfavourable warriors who seize him and kill it. Its decapitated head is raised well high so that its hair is recognized of all. The writings differ on the exit from the battle. Gregoire de Tours, friend of the Francs, tell that it is them which gained, the francs seeing their decapitated chief would have had a renewal of energy and gain the battle. Agatias, historian of the Byzantine emperor of Constantinople finally allots the victory to Burgondes, Marius, bishop of Avenche does not make that to announce the battle and the death of the king. His/her brothers, will share its fields. The kingdom burgonde, when him, will survive still ten years before succumbing definitively under the blows of the Francs.

A helmet was found in the marshes of the Scrapers of Pillardin on the commune of Vézeronce. It is currently with the Museum of Old Evéché of Grenoble.

A rise in ground, and all in length in this landscape of plains is called " Mollard de Coyne" . The Legend says that it would be the burial of the king. It proves however that this monticule is natural.
