The Battle of Saint-Kitts , so known under the name of Battle of Frigate Bay , is held the 25 and January 26th 1782 at the time of the Guerre of independence of the United States of America between the British fleet of the Rear-admiral Samuel Hood and the French fleet of the Grasse admiral.

When Samuel Hood goes back to the Antilles at the end of 1781 after the Bataille of bay of Chesapeake, it is then alone with the orders in the absence of the Admiral Rodney. The French Admiral Of Fatty, attacks British Isles of St Kitts and Nevis. The attempt at Hood in January 1782 to save them capture is a failure but its tactic of constrained harassing French to leave their damping with Basseterre, and disturbs the French attack on the British positions with ground.

Hood, succeeds in driving out the Fatty one of its damping with Basseterre, to wet itself there then to then push back the attacks of the Fatty one. In spite of this brilliant operation, Hood does not manage to prevent the island from falling to the hands from French.
