The battles of Ochsenfeld saw the victory of César over Arioviste in the south of Alsace driving out German on the other side of the Rhine.

Excavations undertaken between Cernay and Wittelsheim made it possible in year 1970 to update what was probably the ultimate battle field as well as the vestiges of the Roman camp in the locality of Ochsenfeld.
