Battle of Mow Cumbres
The Bataille of Mow Cumbres (in Spanish Las cumbres means the tops) is held the April 28th 1862 within the framework of the Expédition of Mexico, the French, although given up by their allies Spanish and English decide not to confine themselves with Veracruz and the coast but to advance in the grounds.
However the road is barred by not easily passable mountains if one excludes certain points of passages like Las Cumbres. It is there that the general Zaragoza decides to defend the access to Puebla by massing 4.000 soldiers and three batteries of mountain. Opposite 6.000 French carried out by the general Lorencez arrive.
Blocked on the main roads until the evening, the French force the master key by sending Zouaves and hunters to foot by mountain lanes to take by storm the Mexican batteries.
