The Bataille of Jarama is one of the battles which opposed the forces in conflict during the Guerre of Spain. It was held during February of 1937, in the context of the Bataille of Madrid.
The pro-Franco forces try to cut the main roads of communication of Madrid with the east of the country, roads of Valence and Barcelona, in order to supplement its seat.
In its projection, they cross the river Jarama at the level of the town of Arganda del Rey but it are stopped by the republican forces under the command of the general Jose Miaja. The line of the face, after its stabilization, will become a trench line until the end of the war.
The nationalist forces take into account the support of a few units of the army of Africa, the Spanish Légion and the Regulares with Moroccan soldiers, as well as the support of the aviation of the Légion Condor. They are confronted with the forces of the Republic including/understanding several brigades of foreign volunteers like the 15th international brigade, of which battalions of anglophone volunteers (British Bataillon and Bataillon Lincoln.
