Baseball with the Olympic Games of summer of 1996

The tournament of Baseball of the Olympic Games of summer of 1996 disputed July 20th with the August 2nd 1996 with Atlanta with the the United States. The meetings took place with the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.

Format of the tournament

The eight participating teams play each one against the seven others at the time of the preliminary round. The four best teams qualify themselves for the semi-finals (1st against 4th and 2nd against 3rd).

Le tournament is only open to the players amateurs. The teams are limited to 20 joueurs.

The first four teams (Cuba, the United States, Japan and Nicaragua) are qualified for the semi-finals. The score of the match between the teams with equality is used to decide between them. Thus, Japan precedes Nicaragua thanks to its victory 13-6.

Semi-finals

The first semi-final was played in front of 32.607 spectators, the second in front of 47.310 spectators.

Meet for the bronze medal

The final for the bronze medal was played in front of 41.002 spectators.

Finale

The finale of the tournament disputed with front 44.221 spectators.
