Base Realignment and Closure

The Base Realignment and Closure , so known under its Acronym BRAC , is a process of the Federal government of the United States used by the United States Department off Defense (DoD) and the American Congrès to close military bases considered to be nonnecessary and to revise the totality of the military credits for budgetary economies on the operational one and maintenance. The final goal is to obtain a maximum efficiency of the average soldiers on line with the objectives of DoD and the Congress. Thus more than 350 military installations were closed at the time of the last 4 BRAC: 1989, 1991, 1993 and 1995. The most recent implementation of such a procedure, the BRAC 2005, began with the autumn 2005 during the handing-over of work of the commission and whose recommendations were voted by the Congress in November 2005. Closings or regroupings of the bases or units are in hand.
