Barney Bigard

Leon Albany Bigard , known as Barney , was a Clarinettiste, Saxophoniste and type-setter of Jazz American, born on March 3rd 1906 with the New-Orleans, deceased on June 27th 1980 in California.

Biography

Just like of other students of Lorenzo Tio, Barney Bigard settled in Chicago in the years 1920 and was made a name with King Oliver and Jello Roll Morton. In 1927 it united with the full orchestra of Duke Ellington and of the principal soloists of the group until in 1942 was one. He collaborated with Ellington to compose " Mood Indigo" , traditional piece of the jazz. Later it found its accomplices of New-Orleans to take part in the whole of Kid Ory and Louis Armstrong. One published his autobiography, entitled " With Louis and the Duke".
