Barbâtre

Barbâtre is a common French, located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire.

Its inhabitants is called Barbâtrins.

Geography

Barbâtre is one of the four communes of the Île of Noirmoutier.
It is closest to the continent, and is thus the point of required passage for whoever wants to join the continent by way terrestre.
The commune is located on the narrowest part of the island.
It extends on 7 km between sand beach, agricultural Forêt domanial and fields S.

History

Its history merges with that of the Île of Noirmoutier.

The inheritance of the commune is especially architectural,
three Moulin S are registered with the historic buildings:

  • Mill of the Plain
  • Mill-old man-to-the-Frandière
  • And let us not forget the Passage of Gois, a roadway submarine of 4,5Km
who is discovered twice a day during 2 to 3 a.m. following the Coefficient of tide.
