Banou Ifren
The Banou Ifren or Ifren in Arabic أَويفرن, أوإفوراقس, أوإفوراغس, أوإفورن go down from Amazigh tribe of Africa and are Amazighs of the Maghreb and possibly an old tribe Berber which gave Ihag' garen and Iasgueren, etc
Ifren was a Berber king (a divinity). All kings Berbères of Numidie finish by " n" like Medghassen with Batna in Aurès. Msnsn (Masinissa), Mkwsn (Micipsa), Ygwrtn Jughurta, Ifren, Ygmrsn (yaghmorasen), medghasen, etc, all the names of the Berber kings finish by one (N).
The tribe Ifren or Ifrinidi or Iforen or (Latin Ifuraces or Afar) or Fren or Wafren or Yefren or Yafren or Yafran goes down from Ifri (the Ben was added by the Arab writers, one will say later Ben ifren or ifrinide, ifren: wants to say in Berber language zénète cave in the singular).
Ifren has as a brother Maghra (Maghraoua) and Irnyan, all go down from Isliten. They all are Zénète. Banou Ifren is a Berber wandering tribe. One finds them in the plains and the mountains with the Middle Ages.
It was a warlike tribe amazighe, experts in cavalry especially which they had the Barbe (horse), the Maghrebian horse. Before the arrival of the Moslem army, Ifrinides or Has Ifren expelled the Francs (Romain according to Ibn Khaldoun) which wanted to occupy the North Africa.
But, according to Corripus in Johannide, at the time of Jean Troglita under the reign of Justinien between 547 and 550, Blessed Ifren made the war with the Byzantine.

Among Khalifes and the influential and important characters of the tribe:
Abou Qurra el Ifrinide (765) is the founder of the Kharidjisme in North Africa. It had 350000 riders under its command. That enabled him to seize the power with the Arab Moslems . Abu Yezid

The Meiçour will be killed and Fatimides will end up fleeing the engagements. This war made human disasters on the Tunisian ground and Is Algérie. Abou Yezid will be disputed by the other chiefs of tribe and the population by her tyrannical intrigues. Yezid will die torture victim in July 947 in Kairaoun.
Fatimides at the sides of the Maghraoua will make the war with the Ifrinides chiefs thereafter. Abd-Allah-Ibn-Bekkar will become Ifrinide chief then his son Yala-Ibn-Mohamed will found Ifgan or Frenda.
Fatimides will drive back Bni Ifren towards the west of Algeria. A thankless struggle is entrepise against Ifrinides at that time.
In 954, Yala will take Oran, it will make evacuate the inhabitants of the city to destroy the town of Oran completely. Yala will take also Tiaret, it will establish its power in the Maghreb at the end.
Yala will make thereafter an alliance with Fatimides.
A member of Fatimides (Djouher) will assassinate Yala with Frenda into 958 at the end of the reign.
Yeddou
Yeddou wire of Yala will succeed Yala, it will conquer Chala and Fès. Yeddou will remove Fez with Ziri-Ibn- Atia of the Maghraoua tribe by twice. Yeddou wanted to reverse the Omeyyades. But Ziri-Ibn- Atia of the Maghraoua tribe will kill approximately 3000 men of Yeddou.
In 993, Yeddou died in the desert.
Habbous
Habbous, the brother of Yala, will take Tedla and will make peace in 1015 with Kairouan.
Temim-Ibn-Ziri
In 1029, Temim-Ibn-Ziri, small son of Yala will succeed the command of the tribe Ifren, it will take Temsna with the Berghwata. The first defeat of Berghwatas in the history. The area of Berghwatas is conquered by Ifrinides.
In 1033, the war bursts between the chiefs of tribe Ifrinide and Maghraoua.

Almoravides will attack Bni Ifren, there will be thousands of died on the side of Ifrinides. The dynasty of Banou Ifren is completed by the rise of the Almoravides of the South. Almoravides will seize the power thereafter with the Maghreb lasting more than one century.
Banou Ifren left constructions (mosques, buildings) and propagated the knowledge among the populations.
