Balance of Boudouard

The balance of Boudouard corresponds to the reduction of the Carbon dioxide by the solid Carbone in Carbon monoxide gas:

C_ {(S)} + CO_ {2_ {(G)}} \ let us rightleftharpoons 2 CO_ {(G)}

The variation of Enthalpie standard of this reaction to 298 K is worth ΔrH° = 172,3 kJ. mol -1

This reaction is Endothermique, it is thus supported by an increase in the temperature. In addition, a decrease in pressure also supports this balance.

This balance intervenes for example in the Greenhouse effect or during the reactions of Carboréduction.
