Baba with rum

The baba with rum is a Cake with alcohol (usually of the Rhum).

In first half of the 18th century, the king of Poland, Stanislas Leszczynski was in exile in Lorraine, in the East of France. Its days were long and to fill its despair, he ate Gâteau X. However, the Kugelhopf which it found in this area, appeared too dry to him. It thus decided to sprinkle it with liquor of Tanaisie. Extremely satisfied with its receipt, he baptized it name of his hero preferred with knowing Ali Baba of the tale of the Thousand and One Nights . With Paris, a pastrycook of the name of Nicolas Stohrer became shortly after the specialist in this dessert by replacing liquor of Tanaisie by Rhum.

The baba is also the favorite cake of Neapolitan, it is declined with rum or with liquor of limoncello (lemon bark), it is only tasted or accompanied by ice cream vanilla.
