Avenue Louise

The Which occurred Louise (in Dutch: Louizalaan ) is an avenue of Brussels extending from the Place Louise with the Bois of Cambers.
This avenue had its source in 1847, when emerges the idea to connect the Center-ville to the Bois of Cambers and with the Forêt of Look after by a rectilinear way, of monumental aspect, raised Marronnier S.

Alas, for the needs supposed for the World Fair of 1958, the avenue is completely refitted, by integrating in its center an urban autouroute passing in tunnel under the crossroads and throwing themselves in the heart of the city. This configuration exists still today, offering the afflicting spectacle of a true highway instead of what should be the most beautiful avenue of Brussels, following the example Parisian fields elysées. This road ultra configuration moreover made it possible the avenue not to obtain subway, malgrès its great density built and its multiple functions of trade/offices/residences, the subway being to some extent replaced by the highway tunnels.
