Avengers

The Avengers ( Avengers in the original version) are a group of Super-héros drawn from different series of Comic S created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the Années 1960.
History
The history of the Avengers is complex, since it is held since 1963. As it is often the case with the American comics , the scenario writer and/or the draftsman of the moment transform (NT) little by little the characters and the group, under the supervision of the editor.
Origins
Initially, this title of Marvel Comics was an answer to a title of its principal competitor (cd. Comics) which had a cartoon putting in scene the major heroes of the company (the Ligue of the dispensers of justice of America or Justice League off America ). But with its quite personal style, Marvel tried to insufflate with the Avengers what made its characteristic: personal problems of the heroes. In front of the obvious conflict to have characters as Thor which would live serious problems at the same time in its clean comics and the Avengers, Stan Lee chose, starting from number 16, for the installation of what is called generally of the “second knives”, that is to say of the heroes a little less important, not having a clean title, and thus being able to evolve/move with greater pace in the history of the Avengers. It is what caused the arrival of old malicious reconverted (Eye-of-falcon, the Red Witch and Quicksilver).
Expansion
With the wire of the stories, several second knives (and some large heroes) were grafted with the Avengers. Wonder Man (accommodated with the #9, although at the time, it was a mole with the service of the enemy), Swordsman (#20), the god Hercules (#45), Black Panther (#52), the Vision (#58), Black Knight (#71), Black Widow (Marvel) (#111), Mantis (#114), Moondragon (#137), Beast (#137), Hellcat (#151), Jocasta (#170), Miss Marvel (#183), the Falcon (#184), Tigra (#211), Miss Hulk (#221), Captain Marvel II (#227) and Starfox (Eros of the Eternal of Titan, (#232). The statute of certain members is different, certain being full members, others of combined or reservists. These years are also the occasion to share adventures with their ambiguity of the Ground-712: the Supreme Squadron. Among the allies of the time, let us mention the Gardiens of the Galaxy, come from the future, and Two-Gun-Kid, come from last (of Far West, precisely).
In one exact moment of their history, in the middle of the Eighties, the Avengers believed useful to open a " succursale" on the west coast of the United States (the original team being based, like about all the characters of Marvel, with New York). History of the two teams, " Avengers" (A) and " West Coast Avengers" (WCA), is closely dependant for several years. It is Hawkeye which will direct the team of the west. At that time, the recruits of the two teams were: Bird Mocker (WCA #1), the Thing (of the Fantastic Furnace, WCA#4), Namor (A#264), Firebird (WCA#4), Doctor Druid (A#278), Mr. Fantastic (of Fantastic Furnace, A#300), Invisible the (of Fantastic Furnace, A#300), Gilgamesh (of the Eternal of the Earth, A#300), Quasar (A#305), Sersi (Circé of the Eternal of the Earth, A#314), Stingray (A#319), Rage (A#329), Sandman (A#329), Spider-Man (A#329), Hook (A#337), Thunderstrike (A#374), Deathcry (A#363), Swordman II and Magdalene (A#357), USAgent (WCA#44), Human Torch (WCA#50), the Alive Flash (WCA#74), Spider-Woman II (WCA#74) and Mask (A#393).
At the same time John Byrne, then in load of West Coast Avengers , created the Great Lakes Avengers ( WCA #46). In fact, about all the supermen belonged to the Avengers, or were one their occasional allies, without speaking about the large gatherings of superman (like the Cosmic Crusade or the Secret Wars).
Heroes Reborn/Heroes Return
Arrive then, in 1995, two of the most discussed events history of this group: Crossing ( Treason in French), and Onslaught in 1996. In the first case, important characters of the group are eliminated or very modified (Iron Man, Wasp…), in a rather dishevelled history, with the limit of logic. In the second, all the group or almost is sacrificed to save the Earth. It is the end of Avengers flight 1.Onslaught had a stopped goal: to make the Avengers available for a reorganization, in the line Heroes Reborn . They will be entrusted to one of the authors more " hots" time (1996): Rob Liefeld . Avengers vol. 2 will last thirteen numbers, time that it will be necessary for Marvel to carry out the commercial silly thing which they have just made. The fans desert the title, without being completely replaced by those which like Liefield.
One year later, Marvel engages two legends to take again the title in hand at the time of the return of the heroes in the traditional Univers Marvel ( Heroes Return ): Kurt Busiek and George Perez. Begin Avengers vol. 3 (1998). From this time will still emerge from new Avengers: Justice and Firestar (former members of the New Warriors), Triathlon, Silverclaw, Jack off Heart, the second man-Ant and Captain Britain II.
Avengers Disassembled

End 2004, Marvel repeats with another history-shock which shakes the Avengers: Avengers Disassembled will see the end of the group (still!) following the " mort" (in spite of the fact that to be dead is very seldom durable at Marvel) of several of its members (Thor who disappears, Ant-Man II killed during the explosion of the Knave of hearts, Vision which is destroyed by a mad Miss Hulk, Hawkeye which is sacrificed while exploding a vessel kree…), by the same hands of one as of their, Wanda, the Red Witch. In front of the extent of the drama (and financial troubles), the group dissolves, while Wanda is recovered in an apparent coma by his/her father, Magneto.
New Avengers

Under the feather of Brian Michael Bendis are born then the New Avengers (2005): new " concept" where the Marvel company decides to gather its larger gauges in a team (a return to the sources, and a will, at the origin, to take again the principle of the JLA of cd.). The New Avengers will be Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine of the X-Men, Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew, agent of the SHIELD), Luke Cage, Sentry and Echo (a knowledge of Daredevil, under the mask of Ronin). In same time also appeared a variation teenager of the team in the title Young Avengers , scenarized by Allan Heinberg.
Alternate versions
The Ultimates

In 2002, Mark Millar, in particular known for its work scenaristic on Authority, rebuilds a team of the name of Ultimates . It is the team of the Avengers of the golden age which is reconstituted under the aegis of the SHIELD, a little like Rob Liefeld and its studio had tried it with the version Heroes Reborn.
The tone is however extremely different. The scenario resolutely adult, is marked by the American topicality, and in particular by the sedentary wave resulting from the events of September 11th. The criticism addressed to the capacity in place is brutal, and finally extrêmenent surprising within the framework of a comic-book Marvel. The maturity of the topics approached is all the more astonishing as the project of Marvel, with different the Ultimate Marvel (Ultimate Fantastic Four, Ultimate Spider-Man, etc) is to allure the new assistantship (of which children and teenagers) lost in the forty years of continuity of the Marvel universe.
