Autophradatès

Autophradatès is a satrap which succeeds with his/her colleague Pharnabaze Memnon of Rhodos the head of the Persian fleet in Aegean Sea the beginning of 333 av. J. - C.

It is probable that this Autophradatès is the satrap who had taken part in the revolt of Datamès between 365 and 363 before joining with Artaxerxès II. Then under the reign of its successor it takes part in the repression of the revolt of the satrap Artabaze (354).

The beginning of 333 it succeeds Memnon of Rhodos the head of the troops, and especially of the fleet, in fight against the Macedonia in Aegean Sea jointly with Pharnabaze although this one seems to have the primacy. They seize Mytilène after negotiation with the inhabitants and restore there a tyrant, Diogène, assisted of a garrison ordered by a rhodien, Lycomède. Then Ténédos, allied of Alexandre is taken while opens negotiations with the king of Sparte Agis III for a possible support in the event of revolt of the Greece. Acted receives on behalf of the two satraps of broad subsidies.

Tap-holes is subjected and Autophradatès, which settles temporarily with Halicarnasse, prepares to unload in the Peloponnese when occurs the news of the Bataille of Issos. Gradually the Persian fleet, especially made up of Phéniciens, is surbedded as Alexandre Large the seizes the coast phenician. Tap-holes revolts (Pharnabaze is made there prisoner) and the tyrants installed by the two satraps are reversed.

It seems that Autophradatès, like many notable Persians, joined with Alexandre because Arrien mentions it like satrap during the forwarding of the king in Central Asia.
