Aurélio Fernández Miguel , born the March 10th 1964 with São Paulo, is old a Judo ka Brésil IEN.

Biography

Aurélio Miguel appears in 1983 by gaining the world title junior in the category of the light heavyweight which will be his lasting all its career. It takes part consequently in the major competitions being held on the continent of Europe what enables him to meet the best judokas of the old continent (like the Belgian Robert van of Walle or the German Günther Neureuther). In 1987, it gains its first international title at the time of the Pan-American Jeux organized with Indianapolis. A few months later, it connects by glanant its first medal at the time of Championnats of the world of judo by taking the third place in -95 kg. Because of its recent performances, it takes part as an outsider in the Olympic Games of 1988 organized in Seoul. It finally reaches the top of its sport by gaining the gold medal vis-a-vis the German Marc Meiling; he became thus the first Brazilian judoka with being Olympic champion. After an interlude devoted to the political action in favor of the sports and the judo in Brazil, it returns in 1992 but cannot take part in the Olympic Games of Barcelona to defend its title because of a wound. Of return the following year, it joins again with the international podiums by taking down the bronze medal at the time of the world ones of Hamilton. For its second and last Olympic Games, he manages to take down bronze with Atlanta in 1996. After a last world medal obtained with Paris in 1997 and a retirement in 1999, the Brazilian one reconverted definitively into the policy. In addition to fifteen years of career, it will thus have missed only one world title with the prize list of the Brazilian judoka.
