Aurès
The Aurès , or Aurès, is an area Montagne uses in the east of the Algérie. The name of this area would come from Latin Aurasius Mons and would have been preserved since the Antiquité.
Geomorphology
Aurès form the part Is Atlas présaharien whose culminating point is the Djebbel Chelia (Mount-Chelia) with 2 328 meters.
It is a solid mass hardly offering NORTH-SOUTH passages, but partially crossed by a depression Synclinal E north-eastern/south-western at the bottom of which the wadi el-Abiod runs.
Population
This area shelters the Berbères Chaouis. The area of Aurès includes/understands the wilayas: Batna, Khenchela, Oum el Bouaghi, Souk-Ahras, Tebessa and the northern part of the wilaya of Biskra. On the other hand the country chaoui is vaster and includes/understands, in more the south of the wilaya of Guelma.
