Atlantic garden

Description

The Atlantic Garden , is a Parisian garden builds above the ways of the Gare Montparnasse on a surface of 3,5 hectares and surrounded by bars of buildings.

A large free square lawn of access constitutes the center of the park. It is crossed in its center by an alley which leads to the fountain of the island of Hespérides where one finds a gantry of which each foot lodges weather equipment and who supports a large directional mirror. The persistent vegetation decorating the park is borrowed from the nature of the Atlantic facades of the two continents and offers in addition to the green, of the mauve, the white and blue. The garden proposes an adventure playground for the children of which made configuration of small places and boxed ways section radically with the remainder of the park. This zone is flown over by a long footbridge curved pedestrian. The park also proposes a surface of Musculation, tables of table tennis and courts of Tennis and guided visits.

The topic of the Océan is caused by the vegetation, the shapes of omnipresent waves and the furniture which points out naval construction.

History

This hanging garden was built in 1994, square of greenery in an ECRIN of glass and of concrete, he manages to reconcile the technical requirements with nature. 130 hoppers are thus distributed in the garden and make it possible to ventilate the station and the underground car park builds in lower part.

Certain installations suffered with time, the weather observatory and the fountain are except service and encircled by barriers.

It was conceived by François Brun and Michel Péna, landscape designers.
