Ataraxia is a group Italy N of Modena in Emilie-Romagna, which left about fifteen albums from where emanates a personal and oneiric universe. Exit of the scene of the Rock'n'roll Gothic and the Coldwave of the Years 1990, the music of Ataraxia, hotter and Latin than their during On the other side of the channel Dead Edge Dance, as well approaches banks of the European medieval music as of the Italian rebirth and poetry. In 2006 and 2007, Ataraxia turns with two distinct and astonishing project-concepts (cf Ataraxia.net).

History

Formed at the beginning of the Years 1990, evolving/moving apart from the large trade-circuits, the group already carried out about fifteen original albums and progressively the albums and performances lives, forged solid reputation of an endowed, prestigious, original and eclectic group. Ataraxia made the choice keep an artistic control on its music and its destiny. Their productions were regularly noticed and published by a network of independent labels, the network of the Gothic labels of musics: Apollyon of Germany, Symbiosis of the Portugal, Cold Meatus Industry of Sweden.

They remain comparable, a little in spite of them, with the scene and the media of the Gothic , Ethereal, the Neo-classic (Heavenly voices).

A great richness of inspiration

Ataraxia likes to distill with the liking of its compositions and its albums of the atmospheres envoûtantes, magic and lyric where the harmony and the beauty are omnipresent. The joint use of multiple instruments: Guitar S, keyboard S, Piano, Clarinet, percussion S, Flûte S enables them to deeply vary the atmospheres and the interest which each member carries to the fine arts and the history inspires largely Francesca Nicoli in its literary compositions. Moreover, the vocal panel and the control of several languages (Italian, French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Latin, Greek) give a European dimension not usurped to their Article.

Also inspired by fairyhood and the Fantastic , the gardens, the places where their périgrinations carry, the Lady with the unicorn, the Atlantis, the Baroque, the work of Virginia Woolf was preceding topics of their opus.

Each album approaches a set of themes and musical landscapes original and ecclectic. Literary poems, texts (Mallarmé, Rilke, Neruda, Sapho, Pessoa…), the medieval, Greek and Roman legends are the hyphen between all. AD perpetuam rei memoriam treats medieval universe by its Latin texts, and the beauty of nature (in particular the ocean, recurrent theme at Ataraxia), concerto n°6 is a homage to the Italian Baroque music (each piece bears the name of a musical style: romanze, arioso, madrigale, gagliarda.). Lost atlantis tells us the legend of the absorbed island of the Atlantis. The atmosphere is intimist there, serene and soft and one lets oneself rock by this environment magic and alleviating which recalls by various tables the culture of this lost continent. It fantasma dell' opera draws its roots in the French culture to him, by telling us the legend of the phantom Opera, and Historiae in the medieval culture with famous resumptions of the Carmina Burana.

The great care and the great artistic requirement brought to all that they undertake are bound and serve major spirituality of their music. Each concert seeks to develop the atmosphere suitable for the site (Abbaye S, Château X, Jardin S, court of village or Gothic cellar) Ainsi, flags, streamers, Masque S and costumes Venetian, medieval behaviors, stage businesses between Francesca Nicoli and the dancer Lorenzo Busi formerly emphasized the musical universe of Ataraxia. Ataraxia evolves/moves and continuous to give original and very worked spectacles. Simultaneously with the musical composition, Ataraxia makes the good share with the artistic forms which contribute has to enrich their visual, that it is painting, the photograph, the typo. Paris Spleen (2006) is a project completely with share in the discography of the group, related to a strange Paris and poetic remote good. Illustrated by a famous photograph of the entry of the Cabaret the Hell, 53 Bd de Clichy. The disc is presented in the form of a " Folksy Horror Music Show" and places itself under the inspiration of Charles Baudelaire, " The Spleen of Paris" all the texts are " freely adaptés". " Notes : Francesca Nicoli, singer, charismatic parolière are also the " large priestess " group. Vittorio Vandelli, guitarist, left an album solo in 2004 (Day Of Warm Rain In Heaven has). Riccardo Spaggiari with the percussions more often plays of the drum than of the battery. Lorenzo Busi, performer theatrical and dancer, appear exceptionally. Livio Bedeschi is the photographer and graphic designer atitré of the group since his beginnings. Nicolas Ramain, French, are the webmaster of Ataraxia.net: he speaks on a title about Sapphire and another about Odos Eis Ouranon in which he also plays of the guitar.
