ASTRA S.p.A. is a manufacturer Italy N of Véhicule S industrialists, heavy trucks and Dumpers.
Subsidiary company of the Italian giant IVECO, pertaining to the group FIAT, it has two distinct sectors, the range of civil vehicles which manufactures trucks of building site of very large tonnage and Dumper S and a vast range of heavy military materials.
Vehicles ASTRA, very famous for their solidity and their longevity have PTR which can reach the 75 tons in road version and 740 tons in heavy load.
Specific versions of these machines are very famous for work in the construction of the tunnels, because of a patented system of recycling of the Fumes exhaust.
Range ASTRA starts with simple Camion S 4x2 and continues until enormous the 8x8, with all the intermediate models.
Always except weight limit in France, where the PTR of a 6x4 is limited to 26 tons, one can meet them only on the closed building sites or the career S, if not in the Tunnel S; their tare weight being of 16 tons in the version 6x4.
ASTRA is for a long time a mark known in France for its rigid dumpers intended for mining industry with in particuler model RD28, of 28 tons payload. ASTRA also manufactures a complete range of articulated dumpers ADT 25-30-35-40.

History
Company ASTRA S.p.A. was created in 1946 and belongs since 1986 to the group IVECO.Thanks to the enormous experience gained since its creation and thanks to a vast range of civil but so military heavy vehicles, ASTRA is a manufacturer referent in the transport sector in the most difficult careers, mines and work.

1946 - Birth of the company rested by Mario Bertuzzi - ASTRA S.p.A. - has nonima S arda TRA sporti - (Sardinian Public limit company of Transport) with Cagliari, in Sardinia, for the reconditioning of the military vehicles,
- 1951 - Transfer of the activities to Piacenza, at the edge of Po in the South-east of Milan,
- 1955 - Construction of the first vehicle of building site the dumper BM 1 which immediately found a use near more the large companies of public works for the earthworks, the tunnels, the viaducts and the stoppings,
- 1965 - ASTRA moves in the current site. The following models are born: BM12 - BM16 - BM18 - BM19 - BM 20 - BM21 - BM22 - BM25 - and dumper BM 35.
- 1970 - Presentation of the frames for giant cranes BE 8440 and BE 10660,
- 1982 - Commencement of SERIES 300, trucks of building site 6x4 of 40 tons,
- 1984 - ASTRA takes part in the PARIS-DAKAR with its BM 309. The range dumper grows rich by the BM501.
- 1986 - ASTRA S.p.A. is taken again by IVECO; Astra maintained already a technical collaboration with FIAT V.I since its origins.
- 1989 - Launching of new SERIES 6000.
- 1992 - Launching of SERIES 6500, range technologically very advanced and equipped with an armed resin cabin.
- 1994 - name BM disappears with the profit from HD for Heavy Duty.
- 1996 - ASTRA celebrates its 50 years; they are more than 25.000 vehicles manufactured and sold in the whole world. Launching of the series HD7, of which very vast range with 2,3 and 4 axles with traction partial or integral and of the motorizations going IVECO of 340 CV up to 520 CV.
- 1999 - the range still grows rich with an automatic box, it is the first vehicle of building site to use this type of transmission. The dumpers of 28 and 40 tons supplement the series of the special vehicles diffused in the whole world.
- 2000 - very important Year for Astra: range HD7 is supplemented by the new series HD7/C which is equipped with the new engines Iveco Cursor (euro 3). To the SAIE (Italian Batimat) Astra presents the new series of articulated dumpers ADT - 2 models ADT25 and ADT30 of 25 and 30 tons of payload.
- 2003 - the Astra on January 1st integrates the activities of SIVI, a historical company specialized in the field of the vehicles for the exceptional trasports, already partner of Iveco since 1982.
All the range SIVI is approved for loads transported up to 540 tons and it is carried out starting from frame and of the Iveco motorizations.
Certification of Astra S.p.A. the certification PLAIN ENI ISO 9001-2000, which goes back to 1997, is confirmed. Astra Véhicules Industrial S.p.A. also receives ISO certification 14001-1996.

2004 - the range of the articulated dumpers is supplemented by 2 new models of 35 and 40 tons of payload: ADT35 and ADT40 been driven by engines Iveco Cursor 13.
- 2005 - New range of trucks of building site HD8, which replaces the HD7 and HD7/C.

CAUTION: values PTC and PTR are given for the Italian code. In France, these values would not even be possible for all the heavy loads.
Two special series HD8 are intended for the markets:
- Spain with a PTR of 104t for convoys special
- Libya with the old Iveco engines of series 8000, very known in the country and still gotten into the Iveco trucks assembled locally.
