Astérix park

Parc Astérix is a Complexe of leisures to the “ gaulois spirit; ”, dedicated to the universe of Astérix. Located at Plailly, in the Oise close to the highway Paris-Lille (A1), it is open since spring 1989. The annual sales turnover is sixty-five million euros. It is per annum the second amusement park more attended France after Disneyland Resort Paris with approximately 1.800.000 visitors. It belongs to the group of leisures HALF-VALUE LAYER Parks since 2001.

The complex includes/understands a Parc with topics and a Hôtel.

Direction

The park is member of the group HALF-VALUE LAYER Parks, in the past Grévin & Co, just like miniature France, Bioscope, the Sea of sand, the Museum Grévin and the park of Trifle.

This park was directed by Alain Trouve of 1999 at the end of 2007, managing director of the park and the service leisures of the group HALF-VALUE LAYER Parks. It is François Fassier (former chief technical officer at Disney) who will succeed Alain Trouvé. The group envisaged a budget of 250 million euros for the five next years for the Astérix park.

Composition of the park

The park breaks up into several parts, more or less in connection with the world of Astérix.

Via Antiqua

This zone gives access in the middle of the park. One finds all the traditional services there, like the points of information, the cases, etc The “ rue ” also contains many shops and points of restoration like the Large Market of Lutèce, the Gallic Galleries, the Palate candy, At Rahazade, Numérobis, Gravédanlonix, Good Legionary etc

Roman Empire

Once left Via Antiqua, the zone arises like entirely decorated on the topic with the Roman Empire. Faithful to the cartoon, humorous panels and inscriptions are found there (of which a panel indicating Rome in all the directions in accordance with the well-known proverb).

Attractions

Romus and Rapidus: a toilet-wrinkle animated on board large buoys, built by Intamin (in the past the Descent of Styx , re-elected in 2007, attraction is currently closed, it should reopen in 2008).
Spies of César: Circuit in height, where the visitors embark on board small vehicles and must pedal to advance.

Spectacles

the Legion recruits: - New spectacle humorous Spectacle interfering numbers with circus, magic, and trapezoid-rubber band in the middle of the arenas. Aciennement Stars of the Empire and always in the arena after Via Antiqua

Ancient Greece

Ancient Greece is a zone with the accesses of the Roman Empire. Entirely thematized on the Hellenic world and its mythology, presented in the famous humorous style to the cartoon of Uderzo and Goscinny.

the Trojan horse: open Attraction of type carpet stealing.
Flight of Icare: Mini Russian Mountain thematized on the take-off then the fall of the son of Maze, built by Zierer.
the River of Elect: Peaceful voyage on board small buoys in the typical Greek gardens.
Hydre de Lerne: standard Attraction octopus or octopus.
Thunder of Zeus: Russian Mountains of wood a height of thirty-three meters and a speed bordering 80 km/h, built by Custom Coasters International, Inc..

The Big lake

The Big lake is a zone surrounding the stretch of water of the park. It is one of the principal places where the event Lutèce Plage proceeds.

Attractions

Galère (Roman) : Standard attraction Boat with rocker.
the Flotilla of the Aces : Horse-gears of small planes.
Small Drakkars : Horse-gears of small boats.
Small flying Chairs : Horse-gears of flying Chairs reserved to the children.
Goudurix : Russian Mountains out of steel, a long time holders of the European record of inversions, détrônées since by the Dragon Khan of Port Ventured). Seven inversions: Butterfly (1: 2 inversions), Boomerang (1: 2 inversions), Loop (1), Double Corkscrew (1: 2 inversions). Certain fans however criticize the violence of this signed attraction Vekoma.

The Middle Ages

The Middle Ages are a zone joining the big lake.

It is the first zone having a precise topic out of Astérix. It is centered on the life of the Moyen-âge, the knight S, etc a covered part gathers several craftsmen like a sculptor on stone, a wood-carver, a glass Master, a blacksmith or a potter, who realize under the eyes of the visitors of true works of Article.

Attractions

Transdémonium : phantom Train thematized over the year Millet.
Mini Carousel : Horse-gear similar to his/her big brother, more directed towards a medieval topic.

The street of Paris

A little particular zone, being based in the zone of the Middle Ages. Evolution of the decorations between two ages: . In the called covered part the street of Paris, one finds various animations, film projections, shops, and decorations in the pure line of Paris at the beginning of the 18th century.

National 7: Circuits of jalopies through a small campaign evoking the blue Road.
flying Chairs: Horse-gears of flying Chairs, reserved for largest.
Oxygénarium: Descent of buoy in a large toboggan. “ Ferdinand de Teffélé, at the time of the Fair with the inventions of Paris, proposes a machine to take a bowl of air. Decontamination, expiry, arrival at the tops of the summits… and it is the fall! ”. Design conceived by Farmer Studios.
Cauldrons: Carousel with cauldrons.

Spectacles

Control on the Mona Lisa: Spectacle of cascades. A track race between robbers and gendarmes, with pyrotechnical effects.

The lake field

It is a prehistoric zone built on water. One finds there principal watery attractions of the park.

Attractions

Menhir Express train: standard Attraction '' flume ''. Travel animated through the forest to finish on a fall of approximately fifteen meters.
the Trace of the hurrah: Russian Mountains Bobsleigh built by MACK Wrinkles. Last nine hundred meters of descent for a speed approaching 60 km/h. Visible attraction since the highway.
Large Splatch: Circuit watery on the heights of the rock of Astérix (emblem of the park, visible since the highway) ending in a fall (standard To rivet Splash). Attraction altered in 2002 front the absence of any topic and decoration during the course. Addition of water jets and other explosions watery by the company Aquatic Show. These effects pose many problems on the level reliability, their operation optimal is very rare on attraction. In 2007, the revolving fountains have of this fact summers withdrawn.

The village of Astérix

Zone reconstituting partially the village of Astérix seen in the cartoon. Since 2004, the village opens starting from 12:30, with a setting in scene. It is the principal place where one can find the characters for the catches of the photographs.

Attractions

Epidemaïs Cruising , initially called Ballade of Astérix : Circuit of small boats making the turn of the village, where one finds the characters of the principal adventures of Astérix ( Astérix at Rahàzade , Astérix at Helvètes , etc). Attraction at the origin with automats, replaced by fixed mannequins in 1999.
the Forest of the druids: Zone of plays for children with toboggans, magic cave… conceived by the two architects Catherine Rannou and Isabelle Soothsayer (at the origin of the garden of the winds and the Dunes to the Garden from the Villette in Paris). She imagined and creates the dynamic objects (bath with brumisator, spitting Champignon of smoke…) and arranged the garden.

Innovations/Projects

2007 :

the delphinarium will remain open until September 2007. During the duration of the work, the dolphins leave to the Netherlands. There will be inversions between the dolphins of several parks in order to avoid consanguinity because the dolphins reproduce too much. The maximum of work with dimensions slides will be made before the opening. The remainder of work will start as from September 2007 for 5 months.

the Russian mountain “ Goudurix ” its station thematized in “ sees; drakkar Vikings ”.

2008 :

watery attraction “ Descent of Styx ” will be reopened under the name of “ Romus and Rapidus ”. Additional means of safety were added, like nets of protection close to the top spin, the addition of safety video camera, the addition of life jackets to the accesses of the river.

an attraction of the type “ Mad House ” is in the course of construction. Built by Mack, it is located at the level of the old Relay Baby, close to the shooting range: “ The Battle of Alésia ”. Its provisional name is “ The Secrecy of César ”.

It should have there eight dolphins with final return as of February 2008 with an aim of remaking a new spectacle.

Accidents

on July 5th, 2006, a Belgian child six years died drowned in attraction the Descent of Styx (Today Romus and Rapidus ), at the major place of the course. The child belonged to a group of outdoor center, and had embarked without monitor, which was in a following buoy. For the moment, the police force did not find an index yet but the prosecutor in load of the file asked that attraction remain closed until the end of the investigation. The investigation finally put out of cause the direction of the park and the employees. Attraction will however not reopen in 2007 due to security and important maintenance work.

It reopens normally for the season 2008
