Asian century
The Asian term century is used to describe the fact that, if the population trends and economic persist, the XXIe century will be dominated by the policy and the Asian culture, just as the XXe century is sometimes indicated under the name of American Siècle. The future powers indicated by this term are then mainly the China, the Japan and the India.
This concept appeared in the middle of the years 1980 and was used during a meeting in 1988 between the Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping and Indian the Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi (). Previously, the term had been used in 1985 during hearings by the Committee of the international relations of the American Senate. It was reaffirmed thereafter by Asian political directors, and from now on is largely used in the mediae.
