Synopsis
Act I
The scene of opening shows Venus and Ascanio, the son whom it had of Enée. The goddess praises the charms of Alba and invites her son to go there and to reign there. She presses it not to reveal her identity with Silvia, a nymph to which he is promised in marriage, but to present herself to her under a false identity to test her virtue. While the shepherds call the sovereign that one promised to them, Fauno reveals that the smiling face of Aceste, a priest, is a sign which the day will be one day of great happiness. Obeying the goddess, Ascanio claims to be a foreigner attracted by the beauties of the place. Aceste called to the shepherds that their valley will be the site of a splendid city and that they will have a sovereign, Ascanio, before the end of the day. It informs as Silvia as it will be the wife of Ascanio, but it answers that it loves already an young man that it saw in a dream. The priest reassures it, saying that the young man of its dream can be only Ascanio. Venus appears then in Ascanio and asks him to a little longer test the young girl before revealing its true identity.
Act II
Ascanio sees Silvia among the shepherds and tries of him to speak. The young girl immediately recognizes the young man of her dreams. Fauno intervenes and suggests with “the foreigner”” (Ascanio) who it should from go away and announces the construction of Alba by geniuses. Convinced that the foreigner is not Ascanio, Silvia leaves while running while declaring that she will not marry anybody other. Aceste comforts Silvia, saying that its tribulations are about to be completed. Venus is called upon in a chorus. Silvia and Ascanio add their voices to the chorus and the goddess goes down on her tank surrounded by clouds. Venus joins together the two in love ones and explains how it encouraged her son to discover the virtue of its promised in marriage. Aceste pronounces an oath of fidelity and honesty with Venus, which is withdrawn then. It remains only in Ascanio to perpetuate the race of Enée and to lead the town of Alba to prosperity.
