Arthur Sicard
Arthur Sicard is the inventor of the Blower-type snow plow, so called turbine or turbofraise with snow in France. Mr. Sicard is a contemporary of another inventor Québécois which tamed the winter: Joseph-Armand Bombardier and his Motoneige.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Mr. Sicard of Saint-Léonard-of-Port-Maurice, was a young farmer. He worked with the dairy farm of his father and made the delivery with the customers. In winter, the road conditions were very difficult because of the snowfalls what complicated its work. By seeing the Reaping-machine with rotary blade of a neighbor, he thought of applying the same principle for the removal of snow. He developed his invention in 1925 and in 1927, he sold the first blower at the town of Outremont like the déneigeuse and blower-type snow plow Sicard . It founded Industries Sicard with Holy-Therese (Quebec) which was repurchased later by SMI-Snowblast Inc. of Watertown (New York). There is always a subsidiary company, Groupe Sicard IF , with Lake-Brominates-Knowlton (Quebec) this company.
