Arthur Griffith

Arthur Griffith in Irish Árt Ó Gríofa (March 31st 1871 - September 12th 1922) is a political leader Irish. He founded several nationalist newspapers and in 1905, he founds the Sinn Féin. It remains at its head until in 1918 when it resigns to leave its place to Eamon de Valera.

Griffith remained however an important member of the party. In 1921, it goes to London to negotiate with the British delegation about Ireland. It signs the Anglo-Irish Traité the December 6th 1921. After separation between the sinn feiners in favor of the treated and the sinn féiners anti-treaty, it takes again its post of leader of Sinn Féin.

He becomes also thereafter the chief of the Dáil Éireann. He found death in 1922 following a Accident cérébrovasculaire.
