Aro
ARO (automobile Rumanian) was founded after the Second world war, on the ruins of factory IAR of BRASOV (Transylvania), factory which manufactured parts of aeronautics. The first model, in 1957, was a derivative of 4X4 Russian GAS. It was been driven by an engine of 3 liters 3, ideal for the couple with low mode, because it developed only 50 ch and bears the name of IMS 57. Version 59 grants 6 additional horses. In 1964, M461, always with the same body has an engine of 70 ch, its career will last 11 years. In 1972, 240 fact its appearance. It was imported in France under the name of 244 Forester since June 1995 with one 2.5 L turbodiesel of 91 ch Peugeot and box 5, tinted panes and Climatisation in option. Maximum speed: 130 km/h. In 2002, it was deliverable only in version record player doubles cabin with one 2.4 L Toyota. But it does not pass any more the standards, and of the preoccupations of reliability and a passage to the standards were right of its importation. The ARO 10 is available in other countries under the name of “DUSTER”. In 1993, the grill was modified to support driving cooling. On the basis of this frame, ARO revealed a new model: the SPARTANA, to which the Philosophie is very close to the Citroen Méhari; it has only two driving wheels and is motorized by the block of block of the first Renault Twingo and a box 4. (that of Peugeot 605) and the 240 is present at world of the car under the name of CROSS-COUNTRY RACE LANDER, ARO presented its range: ARO 10 diesel KID CAB, TRAPPERS with power-assisted steering in option, the green city with power-assisted steering of series, simple Pancho record player & double cabin, Gulf Stream, covered version white color, bumper color body, Turbo 10, and Spartana. 1999: end of the importation of the 244 FORESTER in France, but the 10 has a new motorization: a turbodiesel of 93 ch, that of R19. 2000: there is no more importer ARO in France. In Romania, several engines are assembled on the ARO 10: of diesel Renault and Daewoo. On the 24: new Toyota engine.
ARO is exported in America under the mark Caro. It is not the first time that ARO changes mark according to the country in which it is sold: PORTARO with the Portugal (where the 240 received diesel engines Daihatsu and gasoline Volvo 2.3 L atmo or 2.1 L turbo), and Hisparo in Spain. In October 2000, ARO is present at world car. The 240 is present under the name of CARGO LINER, only in version record player doubles cabin, in order not to suffer from competition. Engine TOYOTA diesel 2.4 L 90 ch, that of Hilux, differential interlock postpones series. The ARO 10 is called “soil” and offers the single motorization Renault 1.9 L DTI, that of Mégane. Currently, range 10 is composed in versions tourism of the 3 doors (10.4), 5 doors (10.5 or 11.4), convertible (10.1), SPARTANA, and of commercial versions vehicles of the record players simple cabin (10.6), double cabin (10.9), pick up double cabin 4 doors (11.9), 2 doors covered (10.0), 2 doors hardware signal (10.2) and 2 doors covered with sheet metal (10.3). The range of the 24 is composed of the 244, the version presented better 264, the 246 to 3 lines of seats offering 7 places and with the raised roof, from the 243 to three doors, its version better presented 263, and the DRAGON. The engines used are the 2,5 liters gasoline with carburettor, the 2,7 liters diesel of 72 ch which had imported in 1982, the same version but with the diesel turbo engine, the 3,1 liters of TRACTORUL, and one 2,4 liters Toyota gasoline. ARO manufactures also trailers.
