Arkhangelsk ( Russian Архангельск in ) is a town of Russia, a port on the White Mer, chief town of the Oblast d' Arkhangelsk. Its population is of: 351600 inhabitants in 2005.
Important fishing and industries of wood.
Founded in 1582, Arkhangelsk was the only commercial maritime place of Russia before the foundation of Saint-Pétersbourg.
