Arbéost

Arbéost (occitan: Arbiost , pronunciation: arbyous ) is a common Frenchwoman of the the Pyrenees department of the Hautes-Pyrénées and area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Geography

Village of Mountain located in high the Valley of Ouzom, served by the secondary road 126, it is staged along this road of Ferrières (550 m) to the Col of Soulor (1474 m).

History

The village, old hamlet of summer of the communes of Arrens and Marsous set up in parish in 1743 belongs to the Val of Azun, one of the 7 valleys of the Lavedan which constitute the south-Western part of the Bigorre. Its position is frontier with the Béarn (department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques, area Aquitaine), the gave Ouzoum marking the border in the west (communal territory of Louvie-Soubiron in Béarn), by the road the entry in Béarn is done after the village of Ferrières (common of the Val of Azun) by the commune of Arthez-in Asson, the gave Ouzoum taking then the name of Ouzom while becoming inhabitant of Béarn.

Its principal activity and traditional is agro-pastoral: salting tub and Pyrenean cheeses sold on the spot and also by the producers on the local markets (Arrens, Argelès-Gazost, Heavy, Tarbes, Pau,…) ; breeding of Cow S, ewe and Goat S for the Cheese and the meat to which are added some horses and Porc S; meadows of mowing (the sale of fodder does not seem any more to be one branch of industry). The Tourisme develops: lodging of stage and; many houses are second home, occupied for some by natives or resulting from former inhabitants actors of the rural migration, for others by in love ones with the Montagne having elected these places; in 2005, two of them belong to Britanniques. On the district of Bourrinquets by a private individual a hydro-electric factory is exploited.

Burst in districts, it starts with Ferrières by the district of Hougarou (555 m) which low constitutes its point in Altitude. De Hougarou while going up towards the Soulor, the road goes in laces in a wooded étroiture skirting the ravine of the Ouzoum to lead to a vast circus dominated by the Grand Gabizos (2691 m), the Petit Gabizos (2639 m), the Latte of Bazen (2472 m), the Ugly Mont (1691 m). At the entry of the circus is the heart of the village, the Borough, where the town hall-school, the church and the cemetery are (formerly the coffees, the inn, bakery), of the Borough by giving up the secondary road 126 to go down towards the Ouzoum one arrives at the district of Bourrinquets which butts against the inhabitant of Béarn field. By taking again the 126 with the Borough towards the Collar of Soulor, are laid out on both sides the districts of Bézious, Harnassat, Lascoutes, Cuyaubère. The barns of Estive S are scattered in the Cirque of Litor, under the Col of Soulor and the road of the Col of Aubisque. The maximum altitude of the communal territory is to 2480 Mr.
