Antonio Ordóñez
Antonio Ordóñez Araujo , born the February 16th 1932 with Ronda (Spain, Province of Málaga), dead the December 19th 1998 with Seville (Spain), was a Spanish Matador.
Presentation
Antonio Ordóñez was the third of the five children of the matador Cayetano Ordóñez “El Niño of Palma”. Several of them launched out in the career bullfighting, but it is the only one to have known glory.It begins in public in 1948 and takes the alternative in 1951. During the years 1950, its competition with his/her brother-in-law, Luis Miguel Dominguín inspires with Ernest Hemingway its famous report “the dangerous summer”, appeared in the American magazine Life before being published in bookstore. Bullfighter of style traditional, orthodoxe and esthetic, at one time when started to appear the matadors of style tremendista , it is regarded still today as one of the largest matadors of the 20th century.
He withdraws himself with the end of the year 1968, then made a short return in 1981 for two bullfights.
From 1962, it launches out in the breeding of the bulls. He was also organizer of bullfights, in his birthplace.
Of its first union with Carmen González Lucas, sister of the matador Shine Miguel Dominguín, was born in particular Carmina, first wife of the matador Francisco Rivera “Paquirri”, and mother of the two matadors Francisco Rivera Ordóñez and Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez “Cayetano”.
In 1995, the French government named it knight of the Légion of honor.
