Antoine Neyron
Antoine Neyron known as Neyron junior is a trader and French politician born with Saint-Etienne, the June 9th 1738 and died in Lyon, on March 1st 1807.
Biography
Younger brother of Jacques Neyron, it marries in 1769 Marie-Anne Jourjon, girl of one of the contractors of the Manufacture of weapons of war and sister of Jourjon-Robert: three children are born from this union of which Andre-Antoine Neyron. It directs the company Veuve Marcellin Neyron & wire what does of him one of most important the commercial of ribbons of Saint-Etienne. It buys a load of secretary of the King but not having reached the twenty years of exercise, it is not accepted in the Parliament of the nobility of the Forez in 1789. He is elected Maire of Saint-Etienne to the Suffrage censitaire the March 2nd 1790. This first elected municipality carries out a considerable work in a rather short amount of time: classification of the houses, paving and lighting of the streets by reverberators and especially purchase of part of the goods of the convents sold like national goods to be used as town hall and especially to open new places and streets, at the origin of the current downtown area. The first municipality of Antoine Neyron is completed officially by the transfer of power of November 20th, 1791. Notable elected official of the municipality Hard shell clam-Royet, on December 6th, 1792, Antoine Neyron takes an active share with the federalistic revolt. After the fall of Lyon and the victory of the Jacobins, it must flee: it appears in the forefront of the required suspects and its house is requisitioned to accommodate the representatives of the Convention such as Claude Javogues. At the time of the municipal elections of the 1st germinal year V (March 21st 1797), he is elected with the municipality by 498 votes and the council chooses it for mayor on May 31st. The coup d'etat anti-royalist of the 18 fructidor (September 14th) involves the suspension of the municipality, which ceases functioning on September 24th. Antoine Neyron, finally, is named third once, mayor of Saint-Etienne, by the First consul, the April 12th 1800, but he refuses this honor. He however fulfills some functions in these last years: with the Council of Agriculture, Trades and Arts of the city (1801) and with the general advice of the the Loire (1803) where he plays a great part to obtain the realization of the road of Roanne to the Rhone. It makes build the castle of the Little face on its properties of Saint-Genest-Lerpt.
