Antinoupolis
Antinoupolis or Antinoé (in Greek old polished Ἀντινόου πόλις Antinoou or Ἀντινόεια Antinoeia , name copte Ansena , current name Sheikh 'Ibada ) is an Egyptian ancient city on Eastern bank of the the Nile, opposite Hermopolis Magna. It was created by the emperor traveller Hadrian (117-138).
This Roman city sheltered the memory of the young favorite of the emperor, Antinoüs, died following a drowning in the Nile. It was divinisé thanks to an assimilation osirienne.
The worship was practiced in its temple, Antinoéion. Annual plays including/understanding of the races of tank were held. The worship of the goddess Heqet and the god Khnoum was very alive there.
At the beginning of the Christian era, the city one was évêché.
