Antalya

Antalya is a tourist big city of the Southern of the Turkey in the prefecture of the province of the same name. It has an international airport.

Antalya is today the tourist capital of the Mediterranean coast , called " Riviera turque". The old city of Antalya, Kaleici, lengthens with the side of an abrupt cliff below which niche an old port, today modern marina.

Since its foundation in 150 av. J. - C. by Attale II, King of Pergame, which called it Attaleia ( Attalie ), the city was always inhabited. The Roman , the Byzantine and the Seldjoukides occupied the city before it falls under the Othoman law .

Antalya was known during the Moyen-âge under the name of Satalieh .

Monument

  • Temple of Apollon (borough of Side) of Roman epoch (towards 150 a. J. - C.)

  • Its elegant Minaret grooved became the symbol of the city.

Events

A plane diverted there lands the August 18th 2007. The plane was an apparatus of the company Atlas Jet which went Cyprus to Istanbul. The majority of the passengers succeeded in opening of force the backdoor of the apparatus and fleeing.
