António Carreira
António Carreira (Lisbon, Ca 1520-30 - ibidem, Ca 1587-97) is a type-setter and organist Portuguese of the Renaissance.
He was organist of the Portuguese royal Vault in Lisbon. Its compositions ( Fantasias, Tentos, Songs ) show a control and a contrapuntic ingeniousness . The majority of its compositions for organ are in Manuscrit S with the Library of the Université of Coimbra.
One of the more interesting compositions of Carreira is Canción " Idiot that the lavaré" , oú the part of the organ which goes with this popular song is in the form of a " Tento". This song is among the older specimens in Europe of a song with the written instrumental part.
