Anselm Franz Freiherr von Ritter zu Groenesteyn

Anselm Franz Freiherr von Ritter zu Groenesteyn (or Grünstein) (1692-1765) was a known German aristocrat as a Architecte and managing director of constructions of the Prince-voter of Mainz. He was also to advise private and treasurer of the prince-voter, and a time governor (“Vitztum”) .

His/her grandfather Stefan von Ritter, originating in Groenesteyn in Holland, settled in the German city of Kiedrich in Rheingau where he married a heiress of the Schwalbacherhof house, leaving in Anselm a consequent family inheritance.

In 1730, Anselm von Ritter makes demolish the residence family and built in the place the Castle Groenesteyn, a building Baroque of three wings with a vault.
