Anne Marie Louise of Orleans de Montpensier

Anne Marie Louise of Orleans (born the May 29th 1627 - died the April 3rd 1693) was a princess of royal blood French, little girl of the king Henri IV. Girl of Gaston of Orleans and Marie de Bourbon, Duchess of Montpensier, it was the German cousin of Louis XIV.

Biography

The History indicates it under the title of the Grande Miss . She holds the title of Miss of her father, Gaston de France (1608-1660), which carried that of Mister as an younger brother of the king Louis XIII. Gaston was called the Large Mister when it had to be distinguished from the brother of Louis XIV, called him the Small Mister ; his/her daughter became “the Large Miss then”.

She held her title of duchess of Montpensier of her mother, Marie de Bourbon, duchess of Montpensier, richissime and single heiress of a branch junior by the Bourbons. Its signature was Anne Marie Louise Dorleans .

With its birth, in 1627, it found the wealthy heiress of the kingdom of France. In its memories, it is indignant that according to the opinion “large good that his/her mother left him with her death could comfort me well to have lost it ”. Jealous of the richness of his/her daughter, Gaston of Orleans carried affection little to him, whereas many of sighing was attracted by the best party Europe. In spite of its rather disgrâcieux physique, she lives herself to propose several projects of marriages with various sovereigns, but they failed all because the duchess had a high idea of her row. His/her cousin Louis XIV, which was eleven years old less than it, would have agreed to him well, but Mazarin made very to be opposed to such a union, attracting itself the enmity of the duchess. Anne Marie then joined her father in the clan of the Frondeurs against the royal capacity. This engagement ruined its reputation.

Exiled after the Sling on its grounds of Saint-Fargeau, of 1652 with 1657, it launched out in the writing of memories of which it continued the drafting with the castle of Have, in Normandy. In this account she tells her memories like a poignant confession. She brushes her portrait, entrusts her states of hearts without false modesty and even with a certain talent, tinted egotism. Still read nowadays, its memories are an important and altogether single testimony, life of a woman at the 17th century, captive of its education and its row.

The most famous episode of its life was its adventure, starting from 1670, at the 43 years age, with Lauzun, a gentleman, fop and unsteady, six years its junior. This last spent ten years locked up in the citadel of Pignerol. For making some leave, the Large Miss had to promise to bequeath her goods to the natural son of Louis XIV, the duke of Maine. She married Lauzun secretly - however still today the doubt remains - but did not find its happiness there. Lauzun was wearied soon it - unless it wearied itself of it - to take again its career of ambitious courtier and inveterate seducer.

It was buried in the Basilique Saint-Denis. Its tomb, like that of all the kings, princes and dignitaries resting in this place, was profaned by the revolutionists in 1793.
