Ancient cymbal
The ancient cymbals , (or crotales ) are instruments of the family of the percussions idiophones.
They are appeared as small Disque S of variable diameters, and reproduce a little the form of a Cymbale. The sounds which they emit are very crystalline, piercing and have the characteristic to be granted. Thus one can find cymbals ancient in C, D, semi, F, ground, etc
Their extent is the following one:
The sound is produced while typing on with dimensions cymbal with a rod in Métal or Bois. The cymbal can be either suspended with a wire (the sound resounds then a long time), or fixed on the top of a vertical stem.
One finds excellent employment of them as of second half of the 19th century, and in particular in the Prélude to the afternoon of a fauna of Claude Debussy, or to the 20th century with the Rite of Spring of Igor Stravinski, or at Maurice Ravel.
