Anand Satyanand , (July 22nd 1944), is a politician New Zealand
Biography
Magistrate of career, became the August 23rd 2006, the first citizen New Zealand of origin indo-Fijian, and more generally Asian, to reach the station of General governor of the New Zealand, de facto the Head of the State and official representative of the Queen Elizabeth II in this country of the the Commonwealth. It is the 19th official representative of the Queen of England in New Zealand.
Helen Clark, Prime Minister of New Zealand, underlined its qualities of integrity and distinction at the time of its taking of: " Its role will extend from the constitutional aspects to those of representation, while passing by the assertion of the single identity of New Zealand (…) In this XXIe century, we also wait of the general governor until it represents a bond with the diversity of contemporary New Zealand ". " Honourable Anand Satyanand is of Indian origin, with strong bonds with the Pacific. His/her grandparents left India to be established in Fiji at the beginning of the twentieth century. His/her parents, in their turn, left Fiji for New Zealand " , also the Prime Minister underlined.
In answer, Mr. Satyanand affirmed his engagement in this new task and, in reference to his origins indo-Fijians, also invited the whole of the New Zealanders to integrate the diversity of this country: " culture and identity of New Zealand east from now on made of a mixture of Maori influences, European, océaniennes and Asian " , it underlined in its turn.
It was parliamentary Commissaire (Ombudsman) of February 1995 in December 2001.
