Alpinia zerumbet

Alpinia zerumbet is a plant of the kind Alpinia of the family of the Zingiberaceae . It is also called flower of my heart, tears of the virgin, ginger cockles, flower of the paradise or longose. These names can nevertheless indicate other species, example with the Longose.

  • Zone indomalaise (north-eastern of the India, Burma and Indo-China)

  • vigorous Plant having a tuberous rhizome
  • Stems broken into leaf from two to three meters in height
  • Sheets broad and lengthened, on 10-15 cm broad, of a green 50-60 cm length sinks shining.
  • Flowers in falling down final bunches carrying several tens of flowers, inflorescences up to 30 cm length, the chalice and the lobes is white pearly, the labelle one white is bordered of yellow with the heart striated with red.
