Alejandro Celestino Toledo Manrique (born with Canted, Ancash, Peru, the March 28th 1945) is a Peruvian Politician . He was president of the Peru of the July 28th 2001 with the July 28th 2006. He is married with the Belgian anthropologist Éliane Karp.

Biography

Alejandro Toledo was born with Cabana, in the Province of Pallasca, Région of Ancash, the March 28th 1945. His/her parents, Anatolio Toledo and Margarita Manrique, were poor peasants. Alejandro is the fifth of the sixteen children of the family, among whom only nine survived. In 1950, its family joined Chimbote in search of a better future.

Education

Child, Toledo worked as itinerant salesman to help his family.

He followed secondary studies to the Gran Unidad Escolar San Pedro de Chimbote , making watch of literary and journalistic qualities. These qualities were worth to him to gain a purse in 1966 to be able to go to study the economy at the University of San Francisco, with the the United States. It continued its studies with the Université Stanford where it obtained two Masters, in 1971 and 1972, followed into 1993 of PhD (doctorate).
